Hi Parents!
If you haven't learned already, I am fascinated with technology, and I am about to embark on a new communication tool!
TWITTER!
Bare with me, I am new to Twitter! I thought I'd try something new and see how it works - you all get to be my guinea pigs!
Parents have the option of signing up for my classroom Twitter that will send updates to your cell phone or you can subscribe online to my Twitter posts and view them there (http://www.twitter.com/yankiddos). My Twitter posts are private and are only available to my current classroom parents that subscribe/sign up. I am hoping to use this Twitter to help with classroom reminders (ex. permission slips, field trip the next day, special occasions, etc.). I will do my best to make sure my posts are made before 9pm so you are not awakened by a text message on your cell phone! I apologize ahead of time if an urgent Twitter post goes out past that time.
I hope this will be a great tool for everyone and if so, I will spread the news to my fellow colleagues about what a wonderful communication tool this is for our classroom parents!!
Thanks for testing this experiment out with me!
Sincerely,
Miss Yan

It's Summer!
I hope everyone is having a great summer so far! I haven't been able to rest yet; I have been taking classes through the Teacher Academy, but it has been fun learning new things! I learned more about Podcasting so I am hoping to incorporate it into my teaching next year.
Don't forget to check out all the fun things at the Anchorage library; sign up for the reading program to win prizes! Plus it helps encourage kids to read over the summer. For events around time, I read the Press or check out the calendar at ADN.com. It looks like a lot of fun things coming up!
Good-bye for now,
Miss Yan
P.S. you can view my class project with kindergarten teacher, Ms. Nishimura from Northern Lights ABC!

Happy Principal's Day, Mr. Hanley!!
They did a great job helping coming up with a poem. As a class, we would think of one sentence and then figure out what rhymes with the last word in that sentence. We had a hard time coming up with rhyming words for "bald" (sorry, Mr. Hanley!!).
Mr. Hanley is so cool.
He is the principal of our school.
He is kind of tall.
He likes to play basketball.
We love him a lot.
Maybe he eats tater tots.
Mr. Hanley ends a school fight.
He knows what is right.
He has a little bit of hair.
But we know he likes to care.
Mr. Hanely is so nice to us.
He watches kids go on the bus.
He wears handsome clothes.
All the answers he knows.
He is very funny.
He has a lot of money.
Happy Principal’s Day to you.
We’re glad you’re here and not the zoo.
Love Miss Yan’s Class
Of course we really don't know if Mr. Hanley has a lot of money, but if we didn't use "money," then we would have had to try to think of a sentence with "honey!"
